James Bobin (Director) immerses us in the past of the flagships characters of the tale of Lewis Carroll, the Mad Hatter aka Tarrant Hightopp and the Red Queen Iracebeth in the second part, Alice de l’autre côté du miroir. This film comes out in the cinema, on June 1st 2016.
Alice Kingsleigh (Mia Wasikowska) becomes captain of ship and goes round the world for three years. Back in London, Hamish Ascot (Leo Bill) invites Alice and her mother at a reception. She discovers that she is no more owner of the company and of the ship « The Wonder » of her late father during a reception given at Hamish Ascot. Disappointed by the decision taken of her mother Helen Kingsleigh (Lindsay Duncan), the main character takes refuge in one of the lounges and sees Absolem (Alan Rickman), the blue monarch butterfly. She follows him as far as a magic mirror, goes through the mirror and finds oneself in the fantastic kingdom of Underland.
The introduction of the movie recounts the role of the woman in the society, in the Victorian era. It discovers the main character, becoming adults, in London in the years 1860s. This feature film, equipped with computer graphics and lives actions, we refer to the parallels worlds, the England, Underland, Outland and Witzend.
Some long sequences, spiced with fabulous special effects, are bathed of darkness and melancholy as when Alice leaves to look for the Chronosphere at the Time (Sacha Baron Cohen) and provokes the stop of the time. The flashback sequence, mark of nostalgic, recounts the past of the Mad Hatter and of the Red Queen Iracebeth.
James Bobin and the production team develop in this adventure, the themes of the time, of the family and of the secret. Johnny Depp plays again one of the key characters of the movie with a lot of strength and sensitivity, the Mad Hatter aka Tarrant Hightopp. He brings a new lease of life to the character. Mia Wasikowska in the lead role Alice Kingsleigh and Anne Hathaway who plays the role of the White Queen Mirana and the younger sister of the Red Queen Iracebeth, bring a lot of gentleness and add their youthful charm to their character. Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway interpret with liveliness and of manner touching for the role of enemies-sisters queens.
It discovers of sublimes songs « Just Like Fire » and « White Rabbit », performed by Pink and signed by Danny Elfman, Pink, Max Martin, Shellback and Oscar Holter. This feature film, inspired by the work of Lewis Carroll, is dedicated to the actor Alan Rickman and to the environment.
